In this thesis, the aim was to present the optimization functions available in the ANSYS Workbench software package. What preceded optimization was a theoretical description of the optimization function. After that, in order to be able to access the optimization, it was necessary to perform a numerical calculation of the connecting rod that was previously modeled in the NX software package and then augmented in ANSYS. The structure was analyzed under static load conditions. Tetrahedral finite elements, grid size 3 mm, were used during the numerical calculation. After the numerical calculation in ANSYS Workbench, the optimization of this construction was performed, with the practical application of the optimization function in ANSYS. When the optimization was completed, three solutions were obtained from which the constructor selects optimally according to his own criteria, and then a comparison of the results is presented in which the initial geometry and the geometry after optimization are analyzed. Based on the performed calculation and optimization of structures, it is concluded that it is possible to reduce the total mass of structures without it coming into unfavorable operating conditions. Construction optimization was performed in ANSYS by direct optimization using the "Screening" method. By reducing the weight, it is possible to save on material, and time also reduces production costs, which is reflected in the competitiveness on the market, not only of this product, but of all. Optimization has shown that it is possible to save up to 10% on the weight of this construction.
