The COVID-19 pandemic is considered one of the biggest challenges that all world economies have faced in the recent past. In a very short period, the global crisis exemplified by the pandemic is also reflected in the economy of Croatia, in the form of a decline in economic activities as a whole. Through the analysis of the basic macroeconomic characteristics, a decline is visible in all aspects, and the most unaffected branch of the economy was tourism, which is also the foundation of the Croatian economy. When it comes to consumer habits, it is important to emphasize that in a short period of time they had to create new habits from scratch. For this reason, it is important to understand consumer behavior, which has a broad meaning. The paper is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part includes secondary data that provided insight into the conceptual definition of online shopping and the characteristics of online trade, the impact of the pandemic on the economy, and consumer habits. The practical part of the paper determines online shopping and its development in the Republic of Croatia, and gives a review of the conducted empirical research through a survey.
