During these years, the concept of Industry 4.0 was developed due to the competition between world powers and in the last 20 to 30 years there have been major developments in the field of artificial intelligence, robotics, development of process and memory chips, accelerated internet development (already 5G), sensors and machine tool flexibility. This is not a revolution, but an accelerated and logical development of these areas. The historical development of industrial revolutions with their main characteristics is presented. Then, some of the main advantages of Industry 4.0 are listed along with it's main disadvantages. Most attention is paid to the possibility of applying Industry 4.0 in Croatia. A comparison of the DESI index of Croatia with other countries that are in the European Union by category and the level of digitization of the economy and society in Croatia is presented. The prerequisites for the application of Industry 4.0 are listed, as well as the possible problems when introducing this concept. In the end a possible strategy for introducing Industry 4.0 into a company was discussed, actually a strategy for the introduction of Industry 4.0 in Croatia.
