In this master's thesis, the presence of patterns in the artistic expression of primary school students was investigated. Patterns are materials and forms that students use to express themselves artistically without activating the creative process. Patterns can leave a trace in the student's future life, where they adapt to the majority and neglect their own individuality. The aim of this master's thesis is to explore and analyze the tendency to use patterns in the artistic expression of primary school students, with an emphasis on the occurrence of patterns and differences in their presence among students of different ages and genders. The research was conducted in the 1st and 4th grades during the Art Culture classes, and the task for the students was to create a landscape using pastels, incorporating 6 given motifs: a house, a tree, a flower, a cloud, a bird, and the sun. After the class, a detailed qualitative analysis of the artworks was conducted, leading to the conclusion that patterns are significantly present in the students' works. The conducted research indicates that as students acquire knowledge and develop their abilities, they gradually move away from relying on patterns and instead rely on their own imagination.
