Primary education is the most beautiful part of children's lives. Part of that elementary school trip is done by a teacher. The teacher should be a competent person who will create a pleasant atmosphere for the work and development of students. It is extremely important that teachers understand the student’s needs, diversity, and specifics. In addition to teachers, cooperation with parents, but also with professional associates is extremely important. Working together and collaborating with students provides a chance for progress and development. Students with disabilities differ from each other and different approaches to work need to be used with students. The aim of this research is to explore whether teachers are competent enough to evaluate students and the very way to work with students with disabilities, and whether teachers always expect success from students with difficulty regardless of their condition. The sample includes 136 participants, ie teachers in the territory of the Republic of Croatia. The results of the research showed that teachers feel that they are not competent enough to work with students with disabilities and that they need additional training and education. It was also found that not all teachers expect the success of students with disabilities regardless of their difficulties.
