Jedini period u kojem je došlo do prevlasti muslimana nad katolicima bilo je za vrijeme trajanja turske vladavine čija su osvajanja na području Broda na Savi započela u prvoj polovici 16. stoljeća. U tom periodu brojni katolici bili su islamizirani i iz straha za svoj život prelazili su na Islam. Nakon propasti turske vojske vjerska struktura u Brodu na Savi se mijenja te katolici opet postaju najbrojnija vjerska zajednica sve do danas. Ti brojevi odnose se na rimokatolike, dok se grkokatolici pojavljuju u popisu stanovništva iz 1880. godine s vrlom malim postotkom. Drugu najbrojniju vjersku zajednicu činili su pravoslavci, a iza njih nalazili su se protestanti ili židovi, u jednom periodu i muslimani, ovisno o državnom uređenju, migracijama, ratovima i drugim čimbenicima. Slavonski Brod je grad koji ima izuzetno važan geografski položaj, koji mu je tijekom prošlosti odredio njegov razvoj. U njega se useljavalo i iseljavalo stanovništvo različite nacionalne i vjerske strukture ovisno o političkim situacijama u gradu, a na tu strukturu su utjecali događaji poput Prvog svjetskog rata, Drugog svjetskog rata i Domovinskog rata. Prema posljednjem popisu stanovništva iz 2011. godine Slavonski Brod je imao popisanu 59141 vjerski opredijeljenu osobu, a tri najbrojnije vjerske zajednice činili su rimokatolici, pravoslavci i muslimani. Danas u gradu osim nabrojanih zajednica djeluju i baptisti, evangelici, adventisti, jehovini svjedoci, židovi i grkokatolici.
Abstract (english) According to the religious structure, from the past until today Slavonski Brod has been and remains mainly catholic city. The only period when that was not the case was during the Turkish rule, whose conquests on the area of Brod na Savi began in the first half of the 16th century when Muslims dominated the Catholics. During that period many Catholics were Islamized and converted to Islam out of fear for their lives. After the liberation from the Turks, the religious structure in Brod na Savi changed and Catholics became again the most numerous religious community to this day. Those numbers refer to Roman Catholics, while Greek Catholics appear in the 1880. census with very small percentage. The second most numerous religious community consisted of Orthodox, followed by Protestants or Jews, at one time Muslims, depending on the state system, migrations, wars and other factors. Slavonski Brod is a city that has an extremely important geographical position, which determined its development during the past. It was inhabited by people of different national and religious structure depending on the political situation in the city, and this structure was influenced by events such as the First World War, World War II and the Homeland War. According to the last census from 2011., Slavonski Brod had 59141 religiously listed people, and three most numerous religious communities were Roman Catholics, Orthodox and Muslims. Today, in addition to the listed communities, there are Baptists, Evangelicals, Adventists, Jehovahs Witnesses. Jews and Greek Catholics.
