Employee motivation is key to the success of a company, because a company whose employees are not motivated have reduced productivity, lower levels of production and it is likely that the company will not achieve its goals. When employees are treated properly and given the right guidance and tools, employees can help reduce costs while increasing sales and revenue. Employees with poor performance will result in producing inferior products and providing poor customer service. The short-term and long-term effects of poor employee performance will negatively affect a company’s sales and reputation. Well-motivated employees are, in fact, engaged employees who are productive and who very rarely miss work. There should usually be some form of reward, incentive, or benefit for the individual or team, because otherwise they will not be motivated or forced to act beyond the daily calling. A good leader / manager will understand the needs of his team or individuals and will strive to provide what drives everyone towards excellence. It is crucial that leadership within the company establishes a mechanism that allows the employee to express what motivates them so that management and colleagues have the opportunity to help each employee reach the maximum level of enthusiasm.
