This paper addresses the topic of contemporary approaches to the maintenance of railway vehicles, with an emphasis on the maintenance of new EMU series 6 112. The first part of the paper provides detailed information about railway vehicles in general, with a focus on railway traction vehicles and their maintenance approaches. Subsequently, the next chapter of the paper offers a detailed description of EMU series 6 112, aiming to thoroughly present its technical and construction features essential for understanding the maintenance system. Furthermore, the chapter covering the maintenance of EMU 6 112 explains in detail the maintenance organization and strategy applied, concluding with an outline of the activities for a more complex level inspection (KP-4). The final chapter of the paper deals with the implementation of the ERP Apross – Service Pro maintenance information system module for railway vehicles, which is just being introduced, including a description of the capabilities of its submodules activated in this phase of maintenance process informatization.
