The paper discusses rural development in Slavonia. Slavonia is a place where tradition and gastronomy are intertwined. Natures beauty holds the first place when it comes to rural tourism. The beginning of the work presents rural tourism in general, what it is, when it develops, what are its characteristics and what kind of sustainable development it is. The second part of the paper shows the figures in tourism in Croatia and rural tourism in Croatia. Businesses in Slavonia that offered their products and services to the hospitality industry and thus created tourist destinations were briefly presented. In the third part of the paper, there is a proposal that would revive rural tourism in a small village in Slavonia, where there is a ranch full of potential in a wonderful location, a renovation plan was made and the costs needed to renovate and start a small business were calculated.
